General Information

Montana is a larger version of the Iowa boasting 12 406mm guns. It currently has the strongest broadside salvo in game at tier 10, and has good turret angles. Like the preceding ships, Montana retains the nasty AA and carrier strikes against you will lose planes in the process. While angled, Montana is extremely tanky, but when giving broadside, you risk being citadeled quite easily. The Montana class battleship is the only battleship that can rival the Yamato

In-Game Information

Montana was a proposed larger version of the Iowa class, with enhanced armor and defenses. She inherited triple 406mm main guns from Iowa and increased their number to 12, in four turrets. The secondary guns were replaced with new L/54 127mm dual-purpose guns for better anti-aircraft defense.

The Montana class was ordered in 1942 but due to the success of the carriers in the Battle of Midway and how their Planes could go beyond the ranges of Battleships and how the Iowa’s were faster than the Montana's (33knts vs 28knts) as well as how the Iowas could keep up with the New Essex Class Carriers the Navy realized that Carriers were the new power house of the Navy thus their orders were retained making them the last Battleships to be commissioned in the US Navy
