General Information

The Iowa class in regards, were among the best Battleships fielded by the USN during WW2. They were more Armored and Faster than any other Battleships fielded by other Nations and within the Traditional US Battleship Design. Only the Yamato of the IJN was considered more powerful but economically horrid due to her massive consumption on Fuel Ammo Steel and Man Power than the Iowa. Nonetheless the Iowa’s was still the last known US Battleships ever constructed and Commissioned by the USN (The Montana in regards, are considered the last as they were Ordered still by the Navy Board).

All 4 of the Iowa Class USS Iowa, Missouri,New Jersey and Wisconsin were commissioned during WW2 and they fought from Leyte Gulf to Persian gulf war until they all became Museum Ships as they are considered in the world as the only Battleship Class to be ever preserved than the rest in the world as the others were scrapped or sunk.

Iowa without doubt is one of the fastest if not the fastest battleship in game. This allows players to reposition themselves quite easily, and also kite away if the need arises. It retains the same ABX loadout of the North Carolina, but the faster speed does mean that Iowa suffers from worse concealment and worse turning circle. Iowa retains the great AA of the NC as well.

In Game Information

Launched in 1942, Iowa served in both WWII and the Korean War. She was equipped with new 406mm L/50 main guns featuring advanced loaders. Her advanced propulsion system made her the fastest battleship in history.

The Iowas were among the most powerful ships ever to be constructed and one of the Non-Treaty Battleships ever designed. They were held in high regards as one of the Best Battleships combining Armor (All or Nothing Design), Speed (33 knts) and Fire Power (16inch(406mm)/50 Cal Mk7 Guns combined with Mk8 Super Heavy Armor Piercing Capped Ballistic Capped or APCBC shell) making them a dangerous opponent at sea than any other battleships that either sacrificed Firepower for Speed or Armor for Speed or both in Vice-Versa. The Iowas, even though obsolete in the 50's and in the Jet Age of Warfare was still enough to fight for Korea and Vietnam (USS New Jersey is the most decorated Battleship in the USN as she had 19 Battlestars for serving ,more than any other in her class). During the bombardment in the Gulf War the Iowas were regarded as modern battleships as they were fitted with Tomahawk Guided Missile Launchers and the Phalanx CIWS (Close in Weapons System) for nearby incoming missiles and aircraft. In the 80's the other reason why the Iowas were reactivated was to counter the Soviet Navy‘s new Kirov Class Nuclear Guided Missile Battlecruiser but with the collapse of the Soviet Union the Kirovs was delayed. With no threat seen by the USN majority, the Aging Fleet along with the Iowa Classes were decommissioned for the Last and Final Time (In they could be Reactivated) and was given as Museum Ships. They are regarded as the only Battleships to ever serve longer than any other Battleships.
